The coaching program focuses on developing strong skiers and skilled competitors in mogul skiing, aerials, big air, half-pipe, and slope-style. Athletes safely develop and hone their skills off snow in a trampoline environment before taking their tricks to snow.
The Waterville Valley Freestyle team competes on all levels of USSA and FIS, from junior divisional through FIS NorAm.
With our outstanding coaching, venues and flexible academic schedule, WVA allows freestyle athletes to reach their athletic goals while obtaining academic success.
The Freestyle training program is also home to the 2010 Olympic Gold Medalist, Hannah Kearney and has been recognized as the USSA Freestyle Program of the Year in 1999 and 2004. Nick Preston, the Freestyle Program Director, was awarded the USSA Russell Wilder Award. This award is given annually by USSA to recognize the most outstanding effort in focusing the interests of American youth on the sports of skiing or snowboarding.
